Dr. Mitchell McKinney participated in a Roundtable Discussion on Political Internships and he gave a lecture on Political Communication at Western Kentucky University on October 15, 2003.

Neil Dwyer, Communication Major was crowned the 2003 Homecoming King.

November 2003
Dr. Michael Kramer and Glenn Hansen ran a 26 mile marathon in St. Louis in September.

Dave Silverman was re-appointed to a second term on the Columbia Historic Preservation Commission. He is currently Vice-Chair of the commission.

Greg Armfield, Maria Dixon, and Josh Atkinson were involved in the Western Michigan University Organization Communication Mini-Conference on Oct. 3 thru Oct. 5, 2003

Jon Hess was promoted to Associate Professor in June 2003

Switzler Hall was named by the Columbia Historic Preservation Commission as one of it's most noteable buldings.

Dr. Michael Kramer was featured in the New York Times article, "If a Resume Lies, Truth Can Loom Large."

Jayce Tingler, a Communication Major, has been drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays MBA team.

Dr. Jon Hess had his article "Measuring distance in personal relationships: The Relational Distance Index" published in the journal Personal Relationships.

May 2003
Communication Major Victoria Rogers has been selected to serve as an honorary Marshal for the May Commencement Ceremony.

Dr. Debbie Dougherty was featured in the "Shoot 'em up" article in the March 18, 2003 issue of the Maneater.

Communication Major Knut Sommerfeldt was featured in the April 13, 2003 issue of the Columbia Daily Tribune.

March 2003
Maria Dixon has presented papers at the following conferences: Southern States Communication Association on April 2-6, 2003 in Birmingham, AL; NASPA (Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education) on March 22-26, 2003 in St. Louis, MO. She has also given a series of lectures at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MN.

Joshua Atkinson has had his article "Thumbing Their Noses at 'The Man': An Analysis of Resistance Narratives About Multinational Corporations" published in the journal Popular Communication.

Dr. Mitchell McKinney participated in the conference "Presidential Campaign Rhetoric in the Internet Age: The 2000 Election and Beyond" which also featured presentations by former President George Bush, and political consultants James Carville and Mary Matalin.

February 2003
Dr. Jon Hess had his forthcoming paper, with Jeff Kerssen-Griep and April Trees, "Sustaining the Desire to Learn: Dimensions of Perceived Instructional Facework Related to Student Involvement and Motivation to Learn" selected as a Top-4 paper in the Instructional Development Division at the Western States Communication Association conference.

Communication major, Kate Jeffries, was featured in the 2003 issue of Mosiacs with her role in the play "Trash".

Dr. John McHale was featured in the Winter 2003 issue of Mosiacs with his documentary "Unreasonable Doubt: The Joe Amrine Case."

Dr. Bill Benoit and his study of political ads was featured in the Galveston County Daily News.

Dr. Bill Benoit was featured in the November 03, 2002 issue of the Washington Post about his study of Political Ads.

Communicaiton major, Kirk Farmer, was featured in Mizzou Weekly in the article "Tigers set an academic record with 10 first-team selections."

Dr. Michael Kramer was featured in the San Diego Union-Tribune in the article "Fudging the facts" and the Sacramento Bee in the article "Lies become weapon in job hunt."

Dr. Bill Benoit was featured in the Normal Il. Normalite article "Debate on power of journalism" Oct. 28 at Illinois State.
