December 2005

Venita Cooper was featured in the fall 2005 issue of the McNair Journal. Her mentor, also in the article, is Dr. Bill Benoit.

Dr. Michael Porter was featured in the September 16, 2005 issue of the Columbia Daily Tribune in the article "Reality's Ups and Downs".

Dr. Mitchell McKinney has co-authored the article "Gendered Influence in Campaign Debates? Analysis of Mixed-Gender United States Senate and Gubernatorial Debates". It was published in the December 2005 issue of Communication Studies.

August 2005

Kevin Stein's article "Success discourse in incumbent presidential television spots, 1956-2004" was published in the Public Relations Review.

Dr. Jennifer Aubrey won the 2004-2005 Foote Distinguised Dissertation Award from the Communication Department at the University of Michigan for the best dissertation.

Undergraduate Major, Venita Cooper is a recipient of the "Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievements". Her faculty advisor is Dr. Bill Benoit.

March 2005

The Department of Communication was awarded the "Outstanding Department Contributions to the Graduate Education" Award on April, 5 2005.

In the April 28 issue of MizzouWeekly the Department of Communication was featured in the article "There's no failure to communication here". It covers the above award.

Dr. Jennifer Aubrey was featured in the Winter 2004/2005 issue of Ms. Magazine in their Dispatches National section.

February 2005

Carrie Prentice won Top Student Paper in the Communication Education division at the 2005 Central States Communication Association conference.

Claire Tan's Central States Communication Association paper was selected as a Top Student Paper and a Top Four Paper in the Organizational & Professional Interest Group

Dr. Bill Benoit and Dr. Michael Kramer were featured in the Winter 2005 issue of mosiacs. Dr. Benoit is ranked at no. 2 and Dr. Kramer is ranked at no. 36 for published research in Communication nationally.

Dr. Michael Kramer was quoted in the Nov. 30, 2004 The Maneater article "Paige Laurie under investigation for academic fraud".

Dr. Bill Benoit was part of the McNair Mentors in the January 20, 2005 MizzouWeekly.

Dr. Nancy Spaeder was a Featured Guest Speaker at MU College of Education Staff Retreat.
