Dr. Debbie Dougherty was featured in the World News article "Men and women view sexual harassment differently".
Dr. Michael Kramer, Dr. Jon Hess and Dr. Loren Reid were featured in the July/July 2007 Spectra in the article "Academic and Professional Affairs". The Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Pam Benoit, was featured on the cover of the Feb. 8, 2007 issue of MizzouWeekly.

Dr. Jon Hess' paper, "Earning influence by communicating respect" was a top-5 paper at the Western States Communication Association Conference.
Dr. Jon Hess (with Tina Coffelt) was selected as a recipient of a 2006-2007 faculty incentive grant.

As reported in the Chronicle of Higher Education, the Department of Communication at the University of Missouri was ranked in the top 10 in the nation in a study conducted by Academic Analytics. The ranking is based largely on the number of journal publications produced by faculty during the years 2001-2005. We are proud of our accomplishment.
Department of Communication Continues to be Highly ranked
- A 1999 survey of department chairs ranked MU 16th in the nation among doctoral granting communication programs (Neuendorf & Skalski, 1999)
- A 2000 study placed MU among the top 12 doctoral-granting institutions based on top convention paper awards in five different divisions at the National Communication Association and International Communicatin Association conventions (Musambira, 2000)
- A 2003 study placed MU 4th for research productivity for publications in the communicatino journals over a five year period from 1996-2001 (Hickson, Turner, & Bodon, 2003)
- A 2004 study place MU 14th for active scholars publishing from 1915-2001 (Hickson, Bodon, & Turner, 2004)
- A 2005 study placed MU 4th for most productive faculty iin the nation in the eight major journals of MCA and ICA from 1999-2004 (Bunz, 2005)
- A 2007 study published in the Chronicle of Higher Education conducted by Academic Analytics ranked MU in the top 10 (9th) for publications by faculty from 2001-2005.
