Bio

Evan Kirksey’s research focuses on disability as a unique and variable identity, and how identity then shapes life for individuals with disabilities organizationally and socially. This is done using primarily qualitative methods. Evan is also interested in Disaster and Crisis Communication, specifically focusing on the development and implementation of safety plans for students with disabilities across American public schools. 

Evan is a Ph.D. student studying Communication at the University of Missouri. He received his M.A. in Communication from The University of Central Missouri (Warrensburg, MO), and his B.S. in Speech Communication and Theatre Education from Southwest Baptist University (Bolivar, MO). 

Teaching has always been a main focus of Evan’s. He currently serves as a graduate instructor at The University of Missouri teaching COMM 1200: Public Speaking.
