Debbie S. Dougherty Wins Dual Awards for Groundbreaking Book on Sexual Harassment in Organizational Culture

Debbie S. Dougherty, Professor of Communication at the University of Missouri and past editor-in-chief of the Journal of Applied Communication Research, has received two prestigious awards from the National Communication Association’s Organizational Communication Division for her book "Sexual Harassment in Organizational Culture: A Transformative Approach." Her book was honored with both the Monograph of the Year Award and the Textbook of the Year Award.

Professor Dougherty’s research program explores the relationship between power and organizing, particularly concerning sexual harassment and social class and she is renowned in her field for her extensive work and contributions. In this award-winning book, she develops a transformative model that examines how organizational cultures are formed and how they can be reshaped through deliberate and thoughtful communication. She also addresses the issue of sexual harassment and how it is woven into organizational structures through communication.
