Multiple graduate students and faculty members in the Department of Communication received top paper or panel awards at the 2025 Central States Communication Association Convention.

Dr. Caroline Waldbuesser, an Assistant Teaching Professor and Course Director for Public Speaking, and Abigail Adediran, a PhD candidate, received the Melissa Beall Award in the Basic Course Division.

Jana Kent, a PhD candidate, received the Top Panel Award in the Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity Division. Jinwen Yue, a PhD candidate, received the Nancy Burrell Award in the Interpersonal and Family Communication Division.
