Former Professor and Chair of MizzouComm Establishes New Fellowship for Students
The Department of Communication is excited to announce a special donation from Dr. Michael Kramer, former Professor and Chair of the department, to create a new fellowship for communication students. This endowment is Dr. Kramer’s way of giving back after his many years of researching and teaching organizational communication.
The fund is created as an annual fellowship award(s) to be given to students in the department. Graduate students studying organizational communication and/or those who are first generation college students will be given preference for this fellowship award. First generation undergraduate students who are majoring in communication are also eligible. This fellowship will be given to new communication students each year.
Dr. Kramer is currently department chair and professor of organizational communication at the University of Oklahoma. He has received many accolades and awards throughout his career for his research and taught at Mizzou for 19 years prior to his time at the University of Oklahoma. His research focuses on the socialization and assimilation processes in organizations, exploring a range of employee transitions in and out of organizations. He also examines group processes, such as leadership and decision making, along with voluntary membership and participation in organizations.
A special thank you to Dr. Kramer for his transformational gift that will help both graduate and undergraduate students continue their work at Mizzou!
