Political Communication Institute

Our Mission

The mission of the Political Communication Institute (PCI) at the University of Missouri is to develop knowledge and promote greater understanding of the role of ethical and effective communication in developing a vibrant participatory democracy and political processes representative of and responsive to all citizens.

 

What We Do

Conduct

original research on all facets of media, politics, and citizen communication under the auspices of an interdisciplinary community of faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students.

Disseminate

scholarship for the academic community through publication and presentation at professional meetings.

Sponsor

public education programs and activities designed to promote greater citizen understanding of and engagement in political and civic affairs

Sponsor

lectures and scholarly programs designed to promote greater understanding of current research within the academic community

Foster

greater interaction between political communication students, scholars, and practitioners of politics and political media.

Promote

public awareness and understanding of scholarship by translating research findings for journalists, the media, and public policy audiences
