Esther Apreku is a doctoral student in the Department of Communication. She earned her M.A. in Communication from Purdue University Northwest. She is passionate about health communication, with a strong interest in health campaigns that address maternal and child health and stigma. Her research examines how strategic communication can improve health literacy, strengthen patient-provider communication, reduce stigma, and increase healthcare engagement among underserved populations. As a translational scholar, a central focus of her work is translating health communication research into evidence-based interventions and campaigns that can be applied in healthcare and community settings to improve health outcomes. She puts this research-to-practice approach into action as the founder of All Love Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides health education, menstrual health support, educational resources, and community outreach to underserved communities in Ghana.

In the Department, Esther serves as a Graduate Instructor of Record for Public Speaking and a Teaching Assistant for Business and Professional Communication. 

Outside of teaching and research, Esther volunteers in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at MU Health Care, where she spends time comforting and supporting infants, an experience that complements her broader interest in maternal and child health.
