Leela Mogadam is a PhD student in Communication Studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her research focuses on organizational communication, identity, migration, and the ways communication shapes experiences of belonging, support, and assimilation. Drawing from critical, decolonial, and qualitative perspectives, her work examines how immigrants and refugees navigate identity and organizational life, particularly within community and nonprofit settings. She is especially interested in ethnographic, phenomenological, and participatory action research approaches to studying communication, culture, and power.

Leela received a B.A. in Communication and French from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and received a M.S. in Communication Studies from Texas Christian University. 

At Mizzou, Leela has taught Business Communication and Public Speaking.

Leela enjoys spending time with her dog, Nola, going on walks, doing crafts, and studying at local coffee shops with her friends.
