Bio

Shobha Pai (she/her) is a first-year PhD student in Communication at the University of Missouri. She previously earned her MA in Communication from the University of Cincinnati and her BA in Psychology and Media and Communication from Muhlenberg College. Her research sits at the intersection of organizational communication, labor, technology, and gender, with a particular interest in how women in the Global South experience and perform labor that is increasingly mediated by technology. Through her work, she is interested in understanding how technology shapes women’s everyday working experiences, identities, and relationships within organizations and broader systems of labor. Shobha has presented her research at the National Communication Association and other regional conferences.

Outside of academia, Shobha is an enthusiastic reality television watcher and is always happy to discuss the latest episode, plot twist, or reunion drama. She also loves spending time outdoors, traveling, and sharing her (often very strong) opinions about the best vacation destinations. An avid traveler, she is always looking forward to her next adventure.
