Ernest A. Eshun is a doctoral student specializing in Health and Disaster Communication. He studies the intersection between these two fields noting how people and or groups respond to disaster and public health-related messages. His research interest lies in health campaigns, crisis, and disaster-related messages. During his master’s program, he researched the Boeing 737 crisis focusing on the narratives of the Boeing company relative to established theoretical assumptions on crisis communication strategy. 

At the East Tennessee State University M.A program, Ernest served as a graduate research student and campaign coordinator for the ETSU Sexual Assault Advocacy Campaign and Nurses Training Program. In his role, he drafted and assisted the execution of a campaign strategy that attracted nurses into the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program whilst creating awareness for sexual assault victims across eight counties in northeastern Tennessee. 

Currently, Ernest intends to work on his research projects on health campaigns and disaster communication messages. He intends to draw on his personal experience as a black African who appreciates the intricate challenges facing minority groups relative to public health and disaster-related messages. In the meantime, he is enjoying teaching public speaking at the department of communication.
