Emilia Ramírez
Emilia is a second-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Communication at the University of Missouri, Columbia. She holds a Master of Arts in Journalism and Communication from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. Her academic research focuses on health communication, with a particular emphasis on women’s health, health behavior, persuasive health messages, health-related decision-making, and social media.
In addition to her academic and research work, Emilia has several years of professional experience as a communication advisor for local governments and global organizations. At Mizzou, she serves as a graduate instructor for COMM 1200 Public Speaking and as an assistant to both the Director of Graduate Studies and the Director of International Studies in the Department of Communication. She is also the Graduate Student Liaison and chairs the Graduate Student Experience Committee in the Association of Communication Graduate Students.
