Bio

Wendy Adjeley Adjei is a doctoral student in the Department of Communication at the University of Missouri. She earned her master’s degree from Purdue Northwest University where she served as a graduate teaching assistant and also developed a strong foundation in Communication studies. She specializes in health communication; her research interest lies in examining the quality of sensitive communication between patients and physicians in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Her study aims to enhance compliance and satisfaction by improving the understanding and collaboration between healthcare providers and families in the NICU setting. 

She actively serves as an activity member of the Missouri International Student Council, contributing to the academic and cultural community. She is an active member of the National Health Communication Association and serves as a blood donor Ambassador for the American Red cross, contributing to community health initiatives. 

In her department, Wendy is a Graduate Instructor of Record for public speaking. Before moving to the U.S. for graduate school, she spent seven years teaching English as a home language and first additional language in the Republic of South Africa educational setting. 

Ultimately, Wendy aims to improve patient outcomes and experiences in critical care environments by demonstrating the impact of effective communication in healthcare settings.
