Bio

Koyena Biswas is a second year doctoral student in the department of communication.

Koyena is passionate about research in the field of Organizational Communication, specifically institutional organizing within academia. She wants to further research in institutional organizing by focussing on the confluence of standpoint theory and its feminist branches, pre and postcolonial theorizing. Her work branches off into questioning the role of knowledge construction and its legitimacy, which is used as the cornerstone for institutional organizing. She wants to look into the internalized metatheoretical (epistemological and axiological) assumptions of knowledge that enable or disable accepted organizational structures such as hierarchy, seniority, management, culture, communication, identity and relationship within institutional organizing. She wants to leverage her theoretical and practical knowledge in communication to explore and create platforms that foster equitable learning communities within institutional organizations.

Koyena loves to have meaningful philosophical conversations with people who ask questions about life like herself. She loves to travel for new climbing and hiking experiences. She enjoys cooking and experimenting with food from different cultures that she has experienced. Music and dancing connects her to the present when she is tired of overthinking!
