3.8 Evaluation of Chair in Teaching, Research, and Service
3.8 Evaluation of Chair in Teaching, Research, and Service
- The Dean of the College of Arts and Science evaluates and determines merit raises during the time an individual serves as Department Chair. Faculty members are encouraged to provide feedback to the Dean to assist in that evaluation either informally or through the formal channel as part of annual evaluations.
- Since three year averages are used to calculate merit raises in the Department, it is important that an individual have three year averages in calculating merit raises after one or more terms as chair.
- The Personnel Committee, with the chair not present, will evaluate the Chair on teaching, research, and service using the same criteria as used for other faculty.
The senior member of the Personnel Committee will provide the chair with a letter reporting the evaluation each year and a copy will be placed in the chair's personnel file.
