4.5 Development Plan

The Department of Communication Development Plan includes the following:

  1. Annual Newsletter
    1. A. Keeps Alumni connected to the department
    2. B. Produces a number of donations to pay a significant portion of the production of the newsletter.
  2. Use the Lombardo Executive in Residence Endowment bi-annually during A&S week when possible:
    1. A. When possible brings a graduate from the program to campus.
    2. B. Serves as role model to undergraduates
    3. C. Has produced a partially funded new endowment
  3. Loren Reid Lecture Series bi-annually during A&S week when possible:
    1. A. Brings a graduate program alum on campus
    2. B. Serves as role model to graduate students
    3. C. Has produced one significant donation to the Graduate Support Fund
  4. Fund Raising Event such as the 24-Hours on the Quad perhaps once every 3-5 years:
    1. A. Connects with non-regular donors
    2. B. Creates camaraderie among participants
    3. C. Previous fund raisers have produced $7,000-8,000 in donations to endowments
  5. Continue to work with A&S development for large donations:
    1. A. Larger resource base to make connections
    2. B. Instrumental in initiating partially funded new endowment
    3. C. Offer the opportunity for a donor to name the Research Lab
